The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit presents:
I’m headed to the Big Apple this week to see my son Henry and watch the Hoos in the ACC Tournament. I thought I’d get myself pumped by putting together a NYC show for you to enjoy this evening.
We’ll start the show with some NYC street musicians (buskers) that have gained enough notoriety playing in the streets and subway tunnels that they have released their own records. From the street to the corner – Doo-Wop is up in the next set then on to the very American salsa.
From there we’ll play some jazz from the Harlem renaissance period, music from the Brill Building, folk from Greenwich Village, punk from the Bowery, rap from the Bronx and some new indie label releases from the new center of the musical universe – Brooklyn.
The question is – will it all fit? Keep it tuned here to find out.
P.S. I’ll be giving away a pair of tickets to see East of Monroe at the Shady Grove Coffee House this coming Saturday night.
