Cause and Effect presents:
This week I’m exploring the story of the most sampled seven seconds of music in history: the Amen break. The sample comes from the song “Amen, Brother”, recorded by The Winstons in 1969 and has been included in nearly 3,000 songs since that time, though no royalties were ever paid to the creator of the drumbeat.
There is now an ongoing campaign to pay one of the original artists for his contribution to musical history.
