First of all, thank you to everyone who has donated in WRIR’s Fall 2016 Fund Drive, our most successful drive in a couple of years.  If you slept through it or otherwise missed the drive, it’s not too late to contribute and have the personal satisfaction of supporting this awesome community radio project: just click one of the “Donate” buttons at the top of this page.

I’m joined once again this week in the studio by DJ Beet Farmer.  Her world music program on WRIR, Kisses With Foreign Fishes, will premiere soon on alternate Sunday nights, 1-3 AM.

In the mean time, she’s sitting in on Global A Go-Go this week, spinning a set of parents and their children and second one she describes as “super f-ing girly.”  And I’ll celebrate the end of the fund drive with all dance music: boogaloo plus some tracks inspired by Afrisa International’s appearance at the Richmond Folk Festival.

A podcast of this week’s program will be available soon at

Ooooooh, yes! It’s the annual Halloween party on Wednesday Breakfast Blend. BOO!

Feels good to have hit the $40,000 goal during the 12 fl. oz.   show!!!! But the Fund Drive rolls on for two more hours and Jim Wark is coming in to grab hold of OTEOPN with his outsized self.   Good radio, worth a donation.   804-649-9737 and of course at our home page.   Enjoy the show.  Otto

OK folks, we need a hero. It’s time to close out the fund drive in style. WE need to collect just under $1000 to hit our goal of 40K. Let’s knock it down before the Cubs take the field at 8pm.

Trey Hall – mic talker of the Dharma Bombs

Thanks to the Dharma Bombs for a great live performance, and to all those who donated and listened!

Chatham County Line is coming to town on Thursday. Playing a few tunes from them to inspire your generosity on today’s Wide Ear
