Bringers of Life presents:

InterTribalBringers of Life

Good Morning and Welcome to Your Weekend!

Thank you so much for getting us to $30,000 during this spring fund drive. I want to thank everyone who called, came by, or donated online.

We kind of missed the honor of mothers last week due to the fund drive, so we can do that today. I also an excited to bring three new cd’s to the show. Thank you Canyon Rec for your contribution.

I've got a bunch of stuff from new and new-to-me albums tonight. Over the past two weeks, I've been exploring the wild west of music blogs, picking up singles here and there, and discovering new aspects of the electronic genre that I have not experienced before. I hope you enjoy the results!

WTF: 360 Graphics BBQ, Dexter Romweber, etc. presents:

What the Fontaine?!WTF: 360 Graphics BBQ, Dexter Romweber, etc.

"What the Fontaine?!: You never know what you'll hear next on this fun mix of tunes from across the decades and musical genres."

Sweet-Sweet Butter-Scotch and the rest of us are bummed that the 360 Graphics BBQ set for tomorrow has been cancelled due to predicted thunderstorms. I'm gonna play a long set of music from those bands anyway … it's not raining in the WRIR studios!  Also, Dexter Romweber of Flat Duo Jets fame is booked to play two gigs over the next few days (Sunday at Banditos & Tuesday at Fallout), so I'll play a song and talk about him, two different drummers, and the other bands on the bills. Tune in 9-11pmEDT!

Global A Go-Go: Friday May 13, 5-7 PM presents:

Global A Go-GoGlobal A Go-Go: Friday May 13, 5-7 PM

What does a 55-year-old Jamaican band have in common with Amy Winehouse, New Order, The Stranglers and Iggy Pop?  That band, The Jolly Boys, is perhaps the last of the original purveyors of mento music, and they've just released an album of mento-style covers of the aforementioned artists (not to mention Steely Dan, The Clash, Johnny Cash and more).  You'll hear a track from The Jolly Boys this week on Global A Go-Go, along with new releases by Hazmat Modine, SMOD and Sergent Garcia, a new reissue of Sorry Bamba, and plenty of favorites old and new.

And let me add a great big Global A Go-Go thank you to the 413 donors who contributed $30,670 during WRIR's Spring '11 Fund Drive.  You folks really put the community in community radio; we just can't do it without you.  Don't forget to pick up your premiums in person before 7 PM on Friday to save us the cost of mailing them to you.  And if donating just slipped your mind during the drive, it's not too late to make a contribution and get some cool premiums:
