Explore the music of Stanley Kubrick’s ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’.

The 1968 science-fiction masterpiece celebrates its 50th anniversary by being re-released in select theaters this week. Apparently not in RVA though. The soundtrack to this film is an interesting mix of the old and the new. It is all about atmosphere. Four pieces by Hungarian composer Gyorgy Ligeti appear in the film without his permission.
