Ambiance Congo / The Other Black Music presents:
WECOME!
Back in 2012, I devoted a program to one of my very favorite singers, the great Josky Kiambukuta Londa.
He passed away in Kinshasa last week and I’m celebrating his life and music again today.
You are invited to listen as we trace his career from “discovery” in the late 60s as he joined Docteur Nico’s African Fiesta Sukisa, his starting l’Orchestre Continental in the early 70s and then joining Franco’s T.P. O.K. Jazz in 1973. He contributed greatly to O.K. Jazz though the 1980s until Franco’s death in 1989. After Le Grand Maitre’s passing, Josky continued with other members of T.P. O.K. Jazz to make many more recordings.
Enjoy this music and share!
If you like what you hear today, you may listen to my 2012 tribute to Josky here:
