Women & Politics presents:
Kiesha Preston is a proud mother and human rights activist from Roanoke Virginia. She currently serves as state legislative coordinator for Amnesty International USA and sits on the Board of Directors for the Kirk Family YMCA. Accomplishments she’s most proud of in her advocacy work include writing the Domestic Violence Victim’s Protection Act, briefing members of Congress on violence against women, and helping to create a National Training Curriculum for addressing gender-based violence in the workplace.
Dominique Thaxton is the Richmond City Council Ninth District Liaison. She assists in the office’s legislative agenda and works with residents to navigate critical city services; as a former Assistant City Clerk for Richmond, she clerked the Council’s Finance and Economic Development Standing Committee. She is a graduate of Old Dominion University, where she earned her bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and Sociology. In addition, Dominique is part of the 2022 cohort of the Minority Political Leadership Institute, a collaborative initiative of The Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute at Virginia Commonwealth University and the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus. Dominique is passionate about community work and civic engagement..
