The Motherland Influence presents:
Today I’m finishing my miniseries featuring African LPs listened to and purchased in record boutiques and record stores form the 1970s to about the year 2000.
These are records that were on the shelves, records that, for the most part, were recommended by boutique proprietors and other patrons.
I’d go seeking Congolese music from the likes of Docteur Nico, Franco and others. The stores were chock full of Congolese albums. but provided opportunities to be introduced to so much more.
It was a great time for African music with a huge variety musical styles and genres from across the continent.
I hope that you’ll enjoy these samples from the golden age.
Music from Zaire, Senegal, Guinea, Mali, South Africa, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Zambia and more.
