Today on Community Events Recorded Live- Women of Liberia unite for Peace! presents:
The Women, War and Peace Conference took place on the 20th and 21st September, 2013.
WRIR was there to capture live audio and today we present to you the Friday night keynote address from producer and activist, Abigail Disney. She discussed her film as well as the work of the Gbowee Peace Foundation USA and answered questions from the audience following the movie.
Her documentary film focuses on the women’s peace initiative in Liberia. It is the story of Nobel Prize winners Leymah Gbowee (founder of the Gbowee Peace Foundation) and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (current president of Liberia) who peacefully took on the warlords and the regime of dictator Charles Taylor during a devastating civil war and brought an end to the conflict.

So if you know if an upcoming event, no matter how big or small and you think we should be there to capture sound– Let us know! Please email sarah.mack at wrir.org
