The Anderson Gallery of Virginia Commonwealth University presents the 2012 Undergraduate Fine Arts exhibit featuring VCU undergraduate visual arts students. The exhibit is on view until April 15th. On Thursday, April 12th at 7:30 pm, The University of Richmond’s Modlin Center for the Arts presents the TAIKO Project. This project brings together the best young taiko players in North America to create an innovative theatrical production celebrating American taiko and blending taiko with storytelling, music, hip hop choreography, multi-media, and dance. Sabot at Stony Point presents a Garden Music series in the Gillette Garden of the school in April and May. The Garden opens at 5 pm for picnicking and the music starts at 5:30 pm. 1708 Gallery presents The Painting Show, an exhibition that surveys current practices in contemporary painting, from the representational to abstract, narrative to conceptual. Curated by Emily Smith, Executive Director of 1708, The Painting Show will examine how painting relates to larger trends in contemporary art. Books on Wheels, a mobile organization that provides books and bicycle repair to the public will be at the North Avenue Library Branch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21st. Contemporary Galleries on Broad Street, including Quirk Gallery, ADA, Gallery 5 and Ghostprint Gallery will open new exhibits on Friday April 6th from 5 to 9 pm. On Friday April 6th the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts presents Friday Art and Wine with the “Twist of Fate” Gallery tour. Meet tragic characters who have been victims of their own fate.
