WRIR’s 2011 Fund Drive Starts Friday Sept. 16th

Make the switch from Summer into Fall with WRIR’s Fund Drive.  Running from Sept. 16th to Sept. 25th, this year’s fund drive will feature our first Live At WRIR CD as a special premium.

Live At WRIR – Volume 1
Since 2005, WRIR has provided a radio outlet for local news and music. For this year’s Summer Fund Drive, WRIR is offering our first “Live At WRIR” CD. A mix of exclusive, live performances by international and local artists makes up the radio station's first self-released CD. "Live at WRIR Volume 1" is a limited edition CD available exclusively during the station's fund drive.

CD Release Party, Saturday, September 17
To celebrate the CD's release, WRIR will host a party at Bogart's in the Fan (1903 W Cary Street), featuring live sets from:

• Splork! (reunion)
• Ms. Proper
• Pedals On Our Pirate Ships (solo)
• Peace Beast
• Moossa

Tune In for 12 Live On-Air Performances in 11 Days
Twelve bands will perform during the ten days of the 2011 Summer Fund Drive. The live performances begin Friday September 16 with Global A Go-Go hosting the gongs, chimes, drums, cymbals and metalophones of Gamelan Raga Kusuma, a community ensemble dedicated to the performance of Balinese orchestral music. The following Wednesday, Deke Dickerson visits WRIR to perform live on Activate! with Mike Rutz. Other artists include Bio Ritmo, Ms. Proper, Pedals On Our Pirate Ship, The Hot Seats and many more.
