River City Limits presents:

Andrew with RVA Playlist is back on River City Limits and sharing the short list of Richmond artists for this year’s Newlin Music Prize, which is awarded to the best full-length album from the Richmond area, as decided by members of the local music scene and fans.

The short list for the prize was chosen from albums released by Richmond area artists in 2023 and a jury of more than 100 Richmond-area musicians, artists, journalists, photographers, and activists nominated albums for this award. Each member of the jury will review the 20 records and submit a ranked ballot which will be used to determine the winner, who will be revealed on March 25. There is also a public fan vote open now until March 21 at NewlinMusicPrize.com. Results of the fan vote will count as one ballot towards the final result.

Plus, we have a bunch of other new local stuff!

Higher Consciousness presents:

(Playlist 85)

From 3 to 5 on Thursdays, Alicia is dedicated to raising your vibration in this time of a mass spiritual awakening. The synchronicities and coincidences that call for attention are given space and joined with music that shares the peace of Gaia and points to the thresholds of our collective experience. A mixture of edgy music, candid interviews, and Alicia’s insights, this is Higher Consciousness.

Today We will talk about our gifts again! Let’s find out what our special gifts are.

Alternative Milestones presents:

My apologies if I sound mumbly today – my dentist decided to reschedule the work I was supposed to have done tomorrow to happen bright and early this morning.

This is fine.

As we start Women’s History Month, I have milestone tunes from some of the legendary ladies of Alternative Music this week, including Tori Amos, Liz Phair and Beth Orton.
Tomorrow will be the 30th anniversary of one of the biggest music release days of the 1990’s – March 8th 1994.  You’ll hear from Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden and Elvis Costello who all released albums on that day.
We’ve got birthday milestones for Adam and the Ants, Infectious Grooves, Keane and James.
And a handful of in memoriam milestones as well from Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Prodigy and Let’s Active

I’ve got 28 milestone songs queued up, and another 37 I don’t have time for.  An amazing week of Alternative Milestones for ya!

Don’t forget you can follow along every day on my Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/DrJayOnTheRadio/
