Did you know the city of Richmond has a new public park? The Green is a public space where the Science Museum of Virginia has converted parking lots into greenspace. In this episode we are talking to the Museum’s first ever horticulturist, Tyler Holtzman, who tells us about what The Green is, how the project has unfolded, and how this new greenspace will benefit the city. Tune in to learn more about native (indigenous) plants, how the Museum is using ecologically beneficial and sustainable practices in managing The Green, and how you can incorporate some of these ideas and practices into your home garden.
For more information, visit https://smv.org/explore/green or head on over to The Green – it’s free and open to the public!

Women & Politics presents:
Amanda Pohl – Candidate for Chesterfield Clerk of Court
Amanda Pohl is an experienced organizational leader with local, state, and national experience. Most recently, Amanda worked to make voting more accessible through vote-by-mail for people across the country.
Amanda serves on the Virginia Fair Housing Board, is a social work educator, building and teaching courses for graduate schools across the U.S., and runs a consulting business supporting businesses, non-profits, and political candidates.
She has previously served as a national Director of Programs to recruit and support women in political leadership and supported domestic violence and sexual assault response agencies – including helping agencies stay open and serving clients during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. She worked with a statewide grassroots organizing non-profit to help people directly affected by issues in government advocate for themselves. Amanda served as her sorority’s National President from 2017-2020. Locally, she is a lifetime member of the Chesterfield NAACP and served on the Executive Board from 2020-2022.
Amanda holds an MSW with a focus in Administration, Planning, and Public Policy, an MDiv with a focus on Pastoral Counseling, an MS in Patient Counseling. She received her B.A.s in political science and philosophy from Virginia Tech. She’s a proud mom of two great kids and has been happily married for nearly 20 years.
Lindsey Dougherty – Candidate for Supervisor Chesterfield County, Bermuda District
Lindsey’s background is in nonprofit, local, and state fiscal management. For years, she specialized in local government financial analysis while working for Chesterfield County in the Budget and Management Department. She is intimately aware of the problems facing our district and is uniquely suited to face them head on, with new approaches that will positively impact the quality of life for everyone in Chesterfield County, Virginia.
Our current representation in the Bermuda District has left a lot to be desired; as our schools have been underfunded, traffic issues go unsolved and unabated, and development continuously outpaces our county’s investments in infrastructure.
Frankly, it’s time for a change. Lindsey wants to use her financial and professional background to improve the lives of all families in the county. She has decided to run as the next Supervisor in the Bermuda District and looks forward to connecting with you soon to bring much needed change and transparency to Chesterfield County government – in all of the areas that impact YOUR daily life.
