Andee Arches is a photographer, cinematographer, videographer, and radio producer.
Andee grew up in Manila, Philippines, but has called Virginia her home since 2006. Her first experiences of America sparked her interest in photography and it has been her passion ever since. Working out of Richmond, VA, she is a volunteer at Virginia Center for Public Press (VCPP), the parent organization of WRIR-LP 97.3 FM and Richmond Independent Video (RiV). She volunteers mainly as the Secretary for the VCPP Board, and as the head of RiV. She has experience in videography, and her background steeped in photography has allowed her to make the transition into cinematography. She won Best Cinematography at the 2018 48hr Horror Film Fest, Richmond chapter.
Currently, she’s directing a documentary titled Sister Radio. This film will document the relationship between two independent radio stations from sister cities, Richmond, VA and Ségou, Mali. Both will partner in designing a program that will empower women voices on the radio in Mali through education on radio production. For more information on this project, visit https://bit.ly/2RVNzZ4.

We wanted to air this episode again to close out our funddrive, another local voice for Richmond – Sarah Choi, a marketer and community builder in Richmond, Virginia, who likes to instigate fun gatherings for strangers to connect in real life. She is often referred to as the firebrand or instigator. She is the founder of IGNITE. She loves developing strategies and is known to create effective ways to drive traffic to a business, but she believes the world’s best strategy is time and effort wasted unless it is executed properly. Sarah will assess your project, curate your Ignite team and work alongside you doing the work, moving the pieces, and connecting the dots. When it comes to juggling all the moving parts of your project, Sarah takes on accountability. She owns it.

Today’s guest is Katherin Jordan, City Council Member, 2nd District
- One of my first roles in the district was as Chair of Fox Elementary School PTA’s Parks & Grounds Committee. I successfully fought for repairs to our broken playground and wrote grants for new trees and custodial equipment. I consistently advocate for RPS funding, and remain active as a former RPS parent in Support Our Schools and StayRVA.
- I also served as Fan District Association (FDA) President, Grants Co-Chair, and Parks & Trees Chair. In these roles I helped neighbors with general city services like trash, lighting, flooding & sidewalks as well as zoning and other issues. I also successfully advocated for increasing proceeds from our Holiday House Tour fundraiser to our public schools (Fox, Binford and TJ).
- Outside of the 2nd, I served 4 years as a member of Richmond’s Green City Commission. I’m proud to have spearheaded the NetZero 2050 Resolution which was adopted June 8 by City Council, as well as helping introduce sustainability goals into city contracts and master plans. I’ve loved meeting with neighbors from Carver to Scott’s Addition to hear their sustainability initiatives. Together we can build a more resilient and equitable city. To become involved, visit the just launched: www.RVAGreen2050.com
- At the state and national level, I was honored to be part of the VAratifyERA leadership team. After three years of advocacy and organizing, our General Assembly finally ratified the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in a bipartisan vote. Equality in all forms should be the rule.

Qui Nguyen (pronounced “kwee win”)
AmeriCorps member currently serving with the City of Richmond’s Urban Forestry Division. A longtime city resident, and VCU alum, you can most likely find her biking around town, moving and maintaining RVA Community Fridges, or with her hands in the dirt. These ladies heard the roar of the road and joined it.
The Supreme Ladies became the first African American all-female motorcycle club in the Richmond area.
Established primarily for African American women who enjoy riding, Inspire Indeed speaks with the founder of the club Melissa Scott and the president Yvonne Henderson. They share with our listeners the focus of the group — to support charitable functions and service the community in addition to making the public aware that women are serious motorcyclists and deserve recognition.

Today’s guest is Lee William’s: Co-Chair, Green New Deal Virginia. EXCOM member and Advocacy Chair, Sierra Club Fall of the James Group
Lee’s background is in healthcare, and she worked as a CCRN before moving to Richmond Virginia to raise her children. Over the years, she watched ecosystems degrade, extreme weather and fires worsen, and the promises made at that first Earth Day be forgotten and cast aside as the American Dream was corrupted by greed, privatization and union busting.
For the past 15 years, she has worked in the grassroots nonprofit sector in a variety of roles for environmental, social and food justice organizations. Lee is a founding member of RVA Interfaith Climate Justice League and Divest RVA, and serves on the ExCom of the Sierra Club, Falls of the James Group and as their Advocacy Chair. In her role as Co-Chair of Green New Deal Virginia, she is committed to the fight for environmental and economic justice.
