Athan Maroulis will be calling in for a live phone interview on tonight’s show! His band, NOIR, will be playing here in Richmond this coming Saturday at Fallout with Ships In The Night and Stephanie! Athan is a legendary singer who has been performing with some of the most recognized bands in the scene since the ’80s…Spahn Ranch, Fahrenheit 451, black tape for a blue girl (just to name a few)! And his current project, NOIR, has carried on that legacy for almost 10 years now! He’s also been a major player behind the scenes helping some of the biggest names in the scene today get their start early on!

We’ll be playing tunes from all the bands playing this show Saturday night in Richmond, plus many more songs from other bands playing here in Richmond and D.C. in the next two weeks!

It’s great to be back! I’ve definitely phoned it in more times than I can count this past summer with my series at WRIR. I want to thank all of the listeners and supporters for bearing with me while I played rerun after rerun of previous episodes. Things don’t always go as planned, so thank you also to the program organizers at the station as well for their patience and understanding. With this return-to-air episode I enlisted the musings of Aia. We talked a lot about her recent drops with her ”
Scat Packs”, the current state of R&B and Soul, as well as her up bringing musically and her education as a Jazz musician at Howard University. Along with a few choice drops from her, I decided to make this episode purely about dance and electronic music. Something about the current state of the world made me want to do an episode of nothing but dance music to try and pump some carefreeness into your Monday afternoon. Peace & Love always!

Dave Heckman, founder of Metropolis Records, recently passed away. For those of you that don’t know, Metropolis was founded in 1993 by Dave in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew to be the largest independent label here in America for industrial, goth, electro, darkwave, and other adjacent genres. Music released by Metropolis has been a big part of Dog Germs since I first started this show 17 years ago and we get to honor Dave tonight with a bunch of new Metropolis releases from A Projection, Kill Shelter, Then Comes Silence, The Birthday Massacre, The Chameleons (UK), :Wumpscut:, Delerium, Paradox Obscur, iVardensphere, and Lords Of Acid.

There are a bunch of incredible shows happening in the next couple of weeks! The Cult and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will be in D.C. at The Anthem next Tuesday the 19th! Also in D.C. on the 19th, you can see Howard Jones and Midge Ure at the 9:30 Club! Miss them at the 9:30 Club? Then you can head east on the 20th and catch them at The Norva in Norfolk! And without having to leave town, you can see True Body, Amulet, Talking To Shadows, and Severed Skies at Fallout on the 22nd! Also playing here in Richmond at Fallout on the 24th are Stoneburner, Chant, and Hunting Dog!
