Finding Sounds presents:

Hello

Here we are with episode 29. The first hour of this show features Boëthius, an Ankara-based musician/composer. We go way back first making contact on the internet exchanging tunes and talking shop. I have always thoroughly enjoyed their music and energy. In his hour, he plays a selection of songs while over it he discusses music and it’s connectivity, sitting down versus standing up, and how crazy this all is.

The second hour features my label, formforum, and a mix I made only from tracks out on the platform. formforum is an open platform label, built off of the user-submissions and small networks of musicians internationally. There are many release on the label which you can find on bandcamp and soundcloud (and below). We have two compilation, ‘Deaccession Forms’ and an all snare sample compilation, ‘Snares’. formforum is nothing without its contributors and for that I am forever grateful for how this all worked out, and for the depth of people’s love for the music. Boëthius also just released an album via formforum called ‘Echoes’.

Enjoy the music, and thank you for listening

Cosmic Connections presents:

Cosmic Connections 16

LAST TIME ON COSMIC CONNECTIONS:

“… Sorry to hear about the radiation leak on the ship…”,

The voice echoes off in the hallowed halls of the SS Sanchez, the rocking and shifting of the ship creates a murky undulating muffling echo that swirls around its crew. It’s been months since the sound started. It seemed to slip in subconsciously, like an öhrwurm that just seemed to shift and change tones and pitches to continue to explore and invade its host.

At first it was a fun mid-day hum during lunch, then a post work jam and the weekend parties morphed into week long freak outs. Now physically and mentally exhausted they exist in silence, trapped in an eternal groove. Hearing only the shared experience of music broadcast directly to their minds.

“…About your request for radiation shielding… sorry, to report this request has been denied…”

Unable to reply to the forsaken broadcast from Earth the Sanchez continues on a new course, possessed by an unknown power! Traveling to unelxplored galaxies and listening to the never ending expression of the mysterious Cosmic Connections!

“Astronauts Report it Feels Good”

Finding Sounds presents:

For episode 26, I am joined by newest WRIR resident DJ, Mnemonic. For the first hour, they introduce their lineage of work, mostly taken place here in Richmond. Electro-acoustic, new jazz, noise music, whatever you want to call it they bring sound exploration to the forefront. Thank you for being on Finding Sounds Mnemonic. Be on the look out for their show/fill-in work.

The second hour, I did a mix including some new music I have found from labels such as Editions Gravats, Transatlantic, and Heat Crimes. There is a bunch of other tunes in there. This one is a mix so its a bit choppy and played with. Enjoy the music.
