Ping Pong: Berlin und Chemnitz

Hallo Leute! You know I have to give you what you need Jeden Freitag from 1-3PM. Also setzt euch hin(sit down) and get bequem(comfy). Typically when we begin the show we prepare for the take off, cruise over the Atlantic, to then land at Frankfurt Airport. But instead let’s explore the DACH(German Speaking Worlds) a little bit. Our layover is in Austria, more specific Vienna to be described as the Paris of the DACH. In this layover we shall hit a Lounge in the Sechsten Bezirk(6th District) a little Reggae blended with House and Hip-Hop never hurt anybody ;). Let’s sit down and explore what Austria is bringing to the table over a Hugo(Prosecco, Elderflower Sirup, Mint, Splash of Sparkling Water). Viennese style we’ll settle into the vibe of the show through sound and a created ambience. Once we wrap up that experience, the doors will open for us to explore the Deutsches Jungle. You will notice a game of Ping Pong being played between Chemnitz(East) and Berlin(West). Again we are diving in the Depths of Germany pulling away from its set Public Symbol. If you picture Germany as a Haus it may be Dorf like by design, but if you join me and Deutscher Jam we’ll take you around the back to give you exactly what you need to see from the country!

Hallo Leute! Today’s is a reminder that the genre of Hip-Hop was created mid-1970s by African Americans and Latinos on the East Coast of the United States a phenomenon that has swept the globe. It has core elements of DJ-ing, rapping, breakdancing, and graffiti – all of which has not only shaped, but diversified an ever-growing range of artistic, cultural, political, intellectual and social practices. Hip-Hop represents a remarkable contribution to world culture with its vision and message of changing the world not only locally and nationally but also globally. It has emerged as a culture that integrates and encourages innovative practices of expression, social identity just as much as political mobilization in countries. In regards to the world of Hip-Hop, it no longer is a dominating force in solely in the United States instead it has become a widespread practice of handling unity and oppression across the globe. Shifting the focus to the Hip-Hop scene in Germany, since the 2000s through Hip-Hop, Germany has transformed into a powerhouse!

Question of the day

Hallo Leute! Through the music I found a close tie on issues being dealt with in between both the United States and Germany in regards to social, economic, and political issues.  In Germany we call Volkswagen the people’s car, a vehicle meant to be a cheap, great quality, and any class of people could afford to be used as a statement. Whether one had a classic Beetle, toned Jetta, speedy Golf, or groovy Van everyone had a place in the eyes of Volkswagen. Hip-Hop like Volkswagen is a cheap, quality driven, entity that could be used as a statement from anyone regardless of background to have a bold voice in society. Hip-Hop, the people’s language has shown me growing up that through bold expression how to deal with social issues and embrace one’s differences. Digging deeper I noticed growing up bi-racial and fluent in two languages that I always felt displaced within two worlds in regards of identity. What does it mean to be German? Do you have to be white to be German? Can you have different ethnicity, be born or raised in a country, embrace the culture and due to the pigment of your skin or texture of your hair still be called German?

Frohe Weihnachten!

Guten Morgen alle zusammen, tune in your present awaits you! Euren Geschenk liegt schon unterm Baum alles liebe von mir <3 I can still smell the roasted pecans in the air, candied red apples, zuckerwatte, mulled wine, currywurst, and I could go on. Reimagine yourself for a minute, it’s winter in Berlin we may need a jacket it’s a little crisp yet sehr erfrischend(refreshing). Of course we will hit the Christmas market, sip a little mulled wine together and feel what the season is really bringing to us. Throughout the show we will be exploring different cities and see what Artists from areas have to fill us in on. Again I don’t know what you want, so let’s explore the Deutsches Jungle and figure out what you need. Every show I try to create a vibe for not only German speakers but more so for you guys just getting introduced to the country. A flavorful plate as I like to call it 😉 We shall build slowly but intensely so I hope you’re ready. Let’s kick it at the Kneipe(Bar) with Sido and hear what he has to say and through the music we’ll get to know his Viertel(Block). Wir brauchen na Raucherpause

Hallo Leute! Come kick it with me outside, I think we need a dringendes(Urgent) Raucherpause(smoke break). I mean if we were in Berlin that would be the vibe regardless 😉 As I say every Show,I don’t know what you want so I’m going to have to give you exactly what you need. Reimagine yourself just arriving at the Berliner Hauptbahnhof, you’re hungry we can quickly grab a Currywurst. Lasst es euch schmecken! Now to get ready for what the city is about to bring you we need to chat about what is on today’s Programme. Let’s go back in time, as stated my expertise goes as far back as 1989 so it is only correct we work our way through Germany’s timeline until present. The key to be aware of is evolution. How has sound evolved within the country? Do certain cities have a tendency to be on the same vibe throughout generations? If so, how have they tweaked that sound and brought it up to date? Heavy focus today is on Hamburg, its vibrancy and ability to constantly hit us with bangers is borderline insanity. Berlin and Hamburg meine meinung nach are heavy hitters within the DACH. You’ll notice with Samy Deluxe that he laid a  foundation for coming generations to use Hip-Hop as vehicle expression, social identity and political mobilization. We will start off with that vibe and simply build from there. Exploring the Deutsches Jungle with the Regional DB is going to be everything you need and more! But let’s take one last hit of this Kippe, and take the U-Bahn to this underground club  where we will be enjoying all the vibes from Seeed.

Hallo Leute! Reimagine yourself at a Café, kicking it with me(Janell) and my co-host Andrew. We are pulling you into the typical conversations we’d have over a Mélange(Viennese Cappuccino) on a sunny day. You will not meet a German who isn’t ready to tel you their meinung over a Kaffee.
