InterTribal presents:

Good morning and welcome to your weekend!

This week’s audio production was high paced, stressed, while also very exciting. Fund Drive time is always very active and requires many of our volunteers to get involved. The same is true even during a pandemic.

Those of us who preproduce our shows need to curate them with positive and upbeat tempos. This Fun-drive I have a very special guest who, through the magic of technology, will join me prerecorded on the October 23, 2021 show. This special guest is revealed during today’s show.

This Week in Indian Country provides two stories sourced from Indian Country Today. This weeks segment introduces you Ashley Callingbull and Meghan Sullivan. Both are interviewed by Mark Trahant.

Be sure to plan for donating during InterTribal. I will have some extra treats for you when you do.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Walk in Peace,
Tall Feathers

InterTribal presents:

Good morning and welcome to your weekend!

Today is forecast to be rainy. I hope this is not a bad event for any of us.

Today’s show celebrates Indigenous People’s Day, Sunday, October 10, 2021. I hope you enjoy the selection and blend of music presented this morning.

Events this Weekend

This weekend the Richmond Folk Festival returns for live performances down on Browns Island – This year’s indigenous performers are Jasmine Bell & North Bear.

Jasmine is a two-time world champion hoop dancer (traditionally a male dance) and a carrier of the Lakota traditions.

North Bear, is an acclaimed Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone drum group from Wind River reservation in central Wyoming. North Bear is one of the foremost exponents of the Northern Plains “straight” or “traditional” style of singing, This weekend you will experience North Bear driving the dance with their powerful falsetto voices. North Bear was founded in 2003, and is led by Jasmine’s husband, Luke Bell.

Of course, the Richmond Folk Festival is free and open to the public.

The American Indian College Fund Presents: INDIGE-BRATION – a Virtual Concert Celebrating the Indigenous People.

Sunday, October 10th (Indigenous Peoples’ Day Eve) at 6:30 pm MDT. – 8:30 pm EDT.

INDIGE-BRATION is a first-time ever event hosted by the American Indian College Fund. This event is free, however, seating is limited so registration is required. To register and get your ticket follow the link above or click here. I am excited because many of the wonderful musicians listed to perform are musicians I have played right here on InterTribal.

Good morning and welcome to your weekend.

Today’s show celebrates the last vestiges of longer days. This coming Wednesday is the official arrival of Autumn with the Equinox, so I thought I would celebrate the beginning of the shorter nights.

This Week in Indian Country again shares two articles:

InterTribal presents:

Good morning and welcome to your weekend.

Meteorological autumn has arrived as of September 1st. With it, the daylight shortens. I don’t know about you, but I now need the light on as I start my morning during the week. 8 pm brings darkness. Thus requiring me to turn on the outdoor lights when I take the dog out.

The temperature has begun to visit the lower portions of the thermostat, and we bid farewell to summer.

Today is 9/11 and most of us probably remember waking up to the horror in New York. Later in DC and next in a field in Pennsylvania.

With everything we are dealing with I selected today’s music to create a meditative environment and help us relax. At least, that was the purpose.

This week in Indian Country focuses on the devastation in Louisiana along the Gulf coast.

You can explore the following websites for more details:

Thank you for tuning in and I hope you enjoy the show.

Good morning and welcome to your weekend.

I want to wish everyone a Happy Labor Day! This coming Monday is the last official holiday of summer. And, one can now say Autumn has arrived. On Wednesday, meteorological Autumn began.

I hope you are enjoying the new segment; “This Week in Indian Country”. Even though it takes me a little longer to produce the show, I believe the segment adds to the program.

This week I focus on events closer to home: Richmond.

On the Pow Wow trail, two pow wows are canceled:

  • The Nottoway Indian Tribal Pow Wow – originally scheduled for September 18th & 19th
  • Upper Mattaponi Tribal Pow Wow – originally scheduled for October 9th & 10th.

I also share details for the Pocahontas Reframed Film Festival scheduled for November 19th through the 21st. Tickets for the 5th Annual Pocahontas Reframed Film Festival are now on sale. This year’s event takes place

at the VMFA Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, VA. You can check out the complete schedule of events here and purchase tickets here.

Just a reminder this show is pre-recorded for your listening pleasure.

InterTribal, the show that makes the sun rise, is here with another installment for your listening pleasure.

I enjoyed putting this show together because I had news and music to share with you.

You may review the article on the Statesman Journal Website.
