Good morning and welcome,
Today we light the community fire to help take the chill off of our winter morning. While we enjoy a brief respite from the cold winter temps here on the east coast, we also enjoy the last InterTribal show of 2019. Today we say goodbye to Hobbs, a longtime supporter and friend to WRIR and many of the DJs. We will miss you.
We conclude our time together during 2019 and look to our future; 2020.

Good morning,
The community fire is lit and we are gathering this morning in our homes to wake (or slumber). May this music rise to meet you and accent your activities as you start your day.
Today the Winter Solstice (also known as Mid-Winter) arrives at 11:19 PM. This meaning the longest night of the year allows us to take our deepest journey into our minds and hearts to review what we did this past year and to sleep so we can dream of what we want to bring in the spring and summer. Celebrate, light your trees and adorn your homes with candles (real or electrically operated) and welcome the fact that the sun will begin to embark on the return journey to our hemisphere. Happy Summer Solstice to those in the Southern Hemisphere.

Today also ends Dias de los Muertos. Did you create a family alter or table? Did you place out your food items and welcome you family members to your home? Remembering our ancestors is something every culture has done through time. Though, some here in the US have forgotten this used to be a part of their people’s ways. Where do you think the true roots of Halloween come from. It didn’t start out all spooky and creepy. It was for honoring those in our families who have taken that journey. To dress up and remember them, tell their stories.
