River City Limits presents:
This episode of River City Limits Aired on 10/15/22. If you were alive on 10/15/22 then 10/15/22 was the last 10/15/22 you’ll ever experience. Probably.
When this episode aired all* the songs played had only been released in the past 2-3 weeks. Whenever you’re reading this, that probably will no longer be the case.
“The wall will fall to the wind as the windy hill
will fall, and all things thought in former times:
Nothing made remains, nor man remembers.
And these towns shall be called the shining towns!”
Take your time.
Please enjoy this show.
*The DJ tried. Zor’s album is from 2018. Ducttape’s song was re-released on Bandcamp last week but came out initially in 2021. What’s important is we all had fun and no one got hurt.

Real Splashy Radio presents:
It’s great to be back! I’ve definitely phoned it in more times than I can count this past summer with my series at WRIR. I want to thank all of the listeners and supporters for bearing with me while I played rerun after rerun of previous episodes. Things don’t always go as planned, so thank you also to the program organizers at the station as well for their patience and understanding. With this return-to-air episode I enlisted the musings of Aia. We talked a lot about her recent drops with her ”
Scat Packs”, the current state of R&B and Soul, as well as her up bringing musically and her education as a Jazz musician at Howard University. Along with a few choice drops from her, I decided to make this episode purely about dance and electronic music. Something about the current state of the world made me want to do an episode of nothing but dance music to try and pump some carefreeness into your Monday afternoon. Peace & Love always!

Cause and Effect presents:
In the late 1950s and early 60s, the “Girl Group” sound began to dominate the American music charts and permeate youth culture. The 1960s girl group phenomenon resulted in a compressed period of musical innovation with lasting results.Ā The songs and performances pushed the bounds of the industry at the time and became a key source of innovative song writing and composition, as well as novel forms of instrumentation.Ā But most of all, āthe girl group soundā had a fresh and optimistic buoyancy to it, with lyrics that were mostly innocent and naive ā of the āgirlādealing-with-boyā variety ā though some songs also offered social commentary.Ā But what distinguished the 1960s āgirl groupā phenomenon was its distinctive sound and the huge Baby Boomer market that sent the music to the top of the charts.
Music critic Greil Marcus, writing of the girl groups in 1992 forĀ The Rolling Stone Illustrated History of Rock & Roll, has noted:Ā āThe music was perhaps the most carefully, beautifully crafted in all of rock and roll ā one reason why none of the twenty or so best records in the genre have dated in the years since they were made.āĀ Now, more than 50 years old at this writing, the girl group music of the 1960s continues to have wide appeal and staying power.
It’s estimated that about 1,500 girl groups recorded music in the 1960s.Ā Of these, about two dozen or so went on to become significant hit makers.
