It’s election season folks and we are bringing you the local candidates and sprinkling in some current politicians serving the communities. Check out our lineup today with candidates from District 69:
Betsy Carr currently serves as the representative for the 69th District in the Virginia House of Delegates – which spans the City of Richmond on both sides of the James River. In the House of Delegates, she serves on the Appropriations, Transportation, General Laws, and Rules Committees. She also chairs the Appropriations Higher Education, General Laws Open Government and Procurement, and Transportation Systems subcommittees.
In addition to serving as a delegate, she served for 16 years as outreach director at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in downtown Richmond. She is a founder and past director of the Micah Initiative, which involves over 120 faith communities in partnerships with 25 city elementary schools, providing over 1,700 mentors, tutors and volunteers.
Dr. Sheila Furey is a wife, mother, and Psychiatrist. She has her own private practice and works with children and adults.
She has spent her career empowering persons with mental illness, substance abuse, and victims of trauma. She wants to bring about safety in our communities and schools to make Richmond a model for empowering her citizens to achieve without the interference of the government.
