Open Source RVA presents:
HEAR, KNOW AND GIVE!! ! On Friday’s “roll the dice” edition of Open Source RVA, heard at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM, I talk about the proposed “Richmond Grand Casino” plan with Josh Stanfield, executive director of Activate Virginia. In his research and writing, Stanfield has unearthed troubling details about Urban One‘s do-over casino initiative (which is due for a public vote on election day), including the company’s recent NASDAQ de-listing, questions about actual minority ownership and potential enviornmental concerns. THEN Dina Weinstein speaks with Ms. Jaylin Brown, a trained Richmond contra-alto opera singer making a splash in many different genres of music, including a recent album of acoustic soul on Shockoe Records, and a brand new bluesy single, “Spring Song.” We also have a report from WRIR correspondent Goad Gatsby from Sunday’s March for Palestine. AND HERE’S A REMINDER TO GIVE US MOOLAH!! The WRIR fund drive starts Friday. Support WRIR AND Open Source RVA by donating at wrir.org – it’s how we stay on the air with all this source-ing stuff. Friday noon on WRIR 97.3FM. (-w/ Krysti Albus and Chuck Moore)
