Open Source RVA presents:

YOUR SOURCE FOR MUSIC TALK! On Friday’s “Gone Fishin'” edition of Open Source RVA, heard at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM, it’s all about Richmond Music Week, which starts Aug. 4 with 804 Day, a free musical festival that takes over the 17th Street Farmers Market area in Shockoe Bottom. We welcome Reese Williams of the sponsoring Shockoe Records, who tells Don Harrison about curating the big multiple performer event. We also talk about another Shockoe-sponsored event, the RVA Rapper’s Delight: at the Hippodrome on Aug. 11. One of the featured performers, Radio B, aka Gregory Carden, joins Don to spill the beans on this one-night celebration of local hip-hop history, hosted by Mike Street and curated by Ant The Symbol. RadioB also fills us in on his quest to keep alive competitive rap, through his Southpaw Battle Coalition and RVA Rap Elite leagues. ENDING THE SEASON ON A GOOD NOTE! Friday at noon on WRIR 97.3 FM and wrir.org.
